History of the Berlin Fire Department Auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department was first organized in 1927.  The first President was Mrs. Mary Heffley.  At the time of her election the borough building was behind the Berlin Brethren Church.  In April of 1965, the auxiliary moved into the Berlin Community Building located along North Street.

Mrs. Helen Spangler was serving as President in 1965 and appointed a committee to purchase the dishes, pots, pans, stove, tables and chairs for the new community building.  Later on a dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, and ice maker were acquired.

The auxiliary serves many banquets, wedding receptions, and anniversaries.  The auxiliary also supports the fire department  by jointly sponsoring our three sunday dinners in February, March, and April.

Thank you to our Ladies Auxiliary for supporting the fire department above and beyond what we could ever imagine.
